Join Ruff & Rumble for Their Big Fundraiser and Bazaar Day This Saturday (May 27)

Ruff & Rumble is back once again this Saturday (May 27), raising money to help support some of Beijing’s amazing organizations who are dedicated to rescuing our furry friends. This time around it will be taking place in the backyard of the Pingguo Art Walking Street near Plan B. There will be an adoption day, a market, food and drinks, a secondhand and swap station, a raffle, and the chance to make donations. There is also some exciting entertainment lined up, but what exactly it will be is a surprise!

Ahead of Ruff & Rumble, I reached out to Rumble in the Jumble organizer and owner of Sacramentos Wellness Incorporated Fran Hanshing to find out more about this year's event.

Hi Fran, am I right in thinking this is the second Ruff & Rumble event? How does it differ this time round?
In fact, it’s the third event Rumble in the Jumble has organized to support rescuers. The first one was in 2021 at the Tongli Market in Shunyi and it was so good that we organized it again with even more people involved in 2022, this time under the name “Ruff & Rumble”, also at Tongli Market. The one in 2022 was very successful, despite all the Covid restrictions.

This year, we invited four organizations dedicated to rescuing animals to participate. These organizations take care of and help to provide forever-homes to all kinds of pets in need, especially stray cats, dogs, and other abandoned pets. The main difference this time compared to Ruff & Rumble 2022 is that fortunately, we have found sponsors and people who want to be involved and collaborate in different ways to raise awareness of the importance of rescuers’ jobs in our society.

Can you tell us a bit about the vendors that will be there?
Since 2015, Rumble in the Jumble has been popping up in different venues around Beijing. From hutong bars to large exhibitions. What is interesting about Rumble in the Jumble is that we provide an entry-level platform for entrepreneurs and the folks who are business-developers-curious. Every time we host an event, we have quite a few brands that have been growing within our network selling hand-crafted jewelry, artworks, handmade skincare, delicious drinks, and various food options, plus new brands and niche-services providers for the Beijing community. For Ruff & Rumble 2023, we will have brands offering pet-related products and services, and as usual, new Rumblers joining us for the very first time.

This year you’ve partnered with four charities for the event, can you tell us a bit about them?
This year we partnered with Furry Tales, Layers of Love, Polly’s Rescues, and Laura’s Rescue, all very active members of the Beijing expat community and recognizable as tireless protectors of animals. They go beyond means and fatigue to aid stray cats or dogs, they take action and help to build a society with more love and respect for other living creatures. They are incredible, organizing all kinds of collaborative events or selling crafts to pay vet bills and at the same time balancing their personal lives and full-time jobs with their endless love for pets.

Can you tell us a bit about the team behind the event?
To make this event possible, we have been knocking on a lot of doors and some of them responded very positively. Asian Tigers, Bluestar AMG, the International Art Plaza, The Right Way Language Institute, Hopelessly Tatiana, and Sacramentos Wellness Incorporated have been such amazing team members; my heart feels already full of gratitude because of the way they have collaborated with us.

Lastly, if people aren’t able to make it to the event, is there another way they can support you?
Yes, please! They can contact me and I will guide them through the different options to collaborate. My WeChat is Fran_Hanshing [or you can scan the QR code above to add her]. Special thanks to The Beijinger, with your support we can reach more people…it is all #ForthePups.

Ruff & Rumble 's Big Fundraising and Bazaar Day will be taking place in the backyard of the Pingguo Art Walking Street (near Plan B) on Saturday, May 27 from 12-6pm.
