The Job Hunt: Models for Yang Li, Roundabout Operations Director, Financial Researcher, Developer for Ancestry Startup

Who wants to spend their Beijing days locked up in a boring, dead-end job, with horrible colleagues you'd rather never see again? As our beloved reader, you should know that you don't have to submit yourself to such an unbearable life of sadness. Instead, take a look below at the best of our job classifieds.

Female Model Casting Call for Yang Li Shoot
Rising Chinese designer Yang Li is looking for models for "fashion / art collaboration." Details are scarce, but this is a great opportunity to work with an up-and-comer of whom the world is taking notice. His simple website, which prominently displays what music he's listening to and when, also contains lookbooks of his past collections, inspired by "Western tailoring, Australian skater culture, punk subversiveness and dreamy romance," according to a profile in The Washington Post. He's worth checking out whether or not you're a tall, svelte, catwalk-worthy candidate.

Senior Financial Researcher Needed in The Asian Banker
The Asian Banker – headquartered in Singapore and with offices in Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Dubai, and Beijing – describes itself as "the foremost provider of integrated business intelligence to the financial services industry in the Asia-Pacific region." If you're interested in China's growing role in the Asian economy (and the global economy, for that matter), you might be happy every day at this job. Duties include conducting research, compiling and presenting market reports, writing articles for the company's journal, and assisting in and attending events. The right candidate will have a bachelor's degree (preferably a master's), 3-5 years experience in a similar position, fluency in both Chinese and English, and a "willingness to travel often."

Operations Director for Roundabout
Here's a rare opportunity to make some money while doing heartwarmingly socially responsible things to better your community and the country at large: Roundabout has been doing great things around Beijing for a long time, and now they're looking for someone to ensure they can do it for even longer. As Operations Director, you'll be responsible for, well ... most of the operations. This seems a good gig for a hyper-organized person who can handle the whole machine: fundraising, collecting donations, recruiting and managing volunteers, organizing and hosting events, and managing sales and funds. The best part? Every day you work helps bring better health and better opportunities to youngsters, women, and marginalized populations around the country.

Studio Manager at F45
F45 Training is a team-based functional training facility, claiming to be "the fastest growing network of fitness studios in the world." Something like Crossfit, the F45 model is a group-training system that is "very addictive." Their Chaowai location is seeking a dynamic Studio Manager to lead classes, grow membership, and retain clients. The ideal candidate has previous management experience, group training experience, dynamic outgoing personality and inspires others to live a healthy and fit lifestyle. This position is equal parts fitness training and business management, with many of your duties being centered around marketing to and attracting new clients. Their ad is markedly lacking in required qualifications, with a vague "fitness certification" described as "desirable," with no other mention of college degrees. I suppose your abs will speak to your expertise during the interview.

Lead Developer at Chinese Ancestry Start-Up
Based in Beijing, My China Roots is a startup that has become the global leader in helping overseas Chinese trace their roots and travel to their ancestral villages. They're currently building a large, Ancestry.com-like database to help users more easily track down their origins and connect with the long-lost family histories and, maybe, family members back home. Could be a rewarding experience and a career-defining project for any budding young developers out there. The listing does not explicitly declare a college degree requirement, instead demanding 3 years' experience, "strong competencies in managing databases, data structures, algorithms and software design," and extensive experience in two or more programming languages. And you won't be going it alone: your first job will be to hire a second developer, apparently of your own choosing. So this is really a two-for-one deal, perfect for co-dependent couples, friends, or roommates.
