Get Down With Stones Throw Records and Egyptian Lover at 751 D-Park, May 7

Holy smokes, yet another great concert for your listening pleasure comes to Beijing’s 751 D-Park on May 7. A Handful of artists from Stones Throw, a hip-hop-centric independent record label first founded in 1996 and home to artists such as the late J Dilla, MF DOOM, and Madlib, are undertaking a tour of Asia to celebrate 20 years of spitting fire.

The lineup includes a DJ set from the label’s founder Peanut Butter Wolf, along with electro legend Egyptian Lover, and a special collaborative set between Knxwledge and Earl Sweatshirt – a must see for anyone interested in experiencing some truly legendary figures in the world of underground hip-hop and electro.

The highlight, in our opinion, will be Egyptian Lover (catch a collab he did with DyE below), a leading force in the Los Angeles electro scene when it began in the 80s. Fusing elements of hip-hop and funk with the cold dance sounds emerging in Germany from bands like Kraftwerk, he subsequently took dance floors by storm with this revolutionary combination of sounds. Songs like “Egypt, Egypt,” “Girls,” and “On the Nile,” are classic tracks that fueled the breakdancing phenomenon at the time. He will be performing live as well as DJing the classics.

For this tour of China, Korea, and Japan, Stones Throw has also teamed up with Stussy to help them celebrate the label's 20th Anniversary. So, along with a dope mixtape from Peanut Butter Wolf, there will also be a limited edition T-shirt available at Stussy stores leading up to the gig. More info on times and tickets can be found here
