Burger Brief: Paulaner Maximilian's Creative Burger Menu

"Burger Brief" takes a look at some of the vendors taking part in this year's Burger Cup Launch Party on August 15, as well as the top seeds in this year's the Beijinger Burger Cup ranking

Take a Chinese chef with more than 10 years of cooking experience in Germany and ask him to create a burger menu and you get the eclectic burger promotion menu currently being served at Paulaner Maximilian.

The promotional menu is available until the end of August, and features a range of unprecendeted burger combinations such as the tuna tartare burger (RMB 88) with wasabi mayonnaise, and the Hawaii burger (pictured above, RMB 58), with chicken, grilled pineapple, salami, and cheese, as well as a more traditional double cheeseburger (RMB 65).

Located on the North Fifth Ring Road, Paulaner Maximilian may be a little outside of your usual comfort zone for restaurants, but the brezel burger (RMB 78) alone is worth the trip. A soft, lightly salty pretzel bun is stuffed with a giant breaded veal chop, topped with salad and tartare sauce a clear demonstration of the chef's skills in German cuisine.

Also worth a mention is the restaurant's expansive outside seating area, a perk of Beijing located outside of the cramped confines of the city center. Find Paulaner Maximilian on the first floor of Hotel maximilian, just north of Gujiazhuang Qiao.

Sample Paulaner Maximilian's burgers at the the Beijinger Burger Cup Launch Party at Universal Creative Park on August 15. For more details, visit the blog.
