Beijing's Best Restaurants Revealed: the Beijinger's 2015 Reader Restaurant Awards Results

It's been another big year for familiar names and also a great year for newcomers in the Beijinger's 2015 Reader Restaurant Awards.

After 9,000 ballots were counted (and several thousand tossed due to ballot stuffing), we sifted through the results and found your favorite spots for dining in Beijing in 2015.

Some of the most decorated venues of years past raked in even more accolades in 2015, with TRB, Annie's, Element Fresh, and Home Plate Bar-B-Que all ringing up multiple awards on the foreign cuisine side. On the Chinese side, favorites Haidilao, Da Dong Roast Duck, Din Tai Fung, and Dali Courtyard all once again netted multiple wins.

But it has been a great year for newcomers, as well as some changes at the top of key categories.

Making the biggest splash of the rookie class was Tribe, which netted five awards, including Best Vegetarian and Best "Green" Restaurant, as well as Outstanding nods in the Best New Restaurant, Best Salads, and Best Sandwiches categories.

The Taco Bar in its rookie year topped the Best Mexican and the Best New Restaurant polls, while the Rosewood Hotel's Bistrot B snagged awards for Best New Hotel Restaurant as well as Outstanding French (Casual Dining).

Meanwhile, Sanlitun newcomer Jing-A Taproom was recognized by readers as one of the Outstanding venues in the Best Place for a Celebration (Casual Dining) and the Best New Restaurant categories.

Korean/Mexican fusion master Palms L.A. Kitchen was also among the rookie class that netted multiple awards, one for Outstanding Korean and another for Outstanding New Restaurant.

There's a whole new crop of restaurants to try in three massive Best New Restaurant categories. Other new ones our readers loved this year include Taste of Da Dong, Soup Kitchen, Spirited Away, and Dalong Jiuge Chongqing Hot Pot in the Chinese categories.

Turnovers in the top spots occurred in multiple categories as well. Bianyifang took over the top slot in the Beijing Duck (Casual Dining) category from last year's winner Xiao Wang Fu.

We have a new champ in the Sichuan category, though the restaurant itself is not new: old standby Meizhou Dongpo rose to the top while long-time favorite Chuan Ban dropped to runner up (meanwhile, past multiple title holder South Beauty has dropped off the radar entirely).

Hatsune regained its crown as Best Business Lunch from last year's incumbent Mosto; Cafe Flo took over the Best French (Casual Dining) spot previously held by Cafe de la Poste; and Huoluhuo now reigns supreme in the Best Korean category over last year's winner Iki.

We're also proud to announce our crop of personality winners. In our first-ever Food Entrepreneur of the Year category, we had a tie for first place between Andy Horowitz of Andy's Craft Sausages and Erica Huang of Farm to Neighbors. Coming in right behind them was Jonathan Ellis of Big Bear Cookies.

Da Dong (of Da Dong Roast Duck), TRB's Ignace Lecleir and Home Plate Bar-B-Que's Dave Bob Gaspar were our Personalities of the Year, while our top chefs include Mosto's Daniel Urdaneta, Agua's Jordi Valles, and Rob Cunningham from Feast

We had a confluence of votes in the Best Salads category. Element Fresh walked away with the top prize, while four additional competitors tied for runner-up, all garnering votes that put them in a statistical dead heat: Annie's, Moka Bros, Tribe, and Gung Ho! Pizza.
