First, we now know that the intial stories were full of pretty sloppy journalism (surprise, surprise) which once again caused a bad image for the foreign community.
Secondly, Lao Ye, if these children were left to their own devices, without Ray's intervention, how likely, and how quickly could they have gotten the corrective surgery they needed?
I have a little knowledge about this, from years gone bye, and at that time, it would certainly never have been easy or assured that these children would have been well looked after. Especially if they were in a small town in China.
I think one only needs to spend some time in some of Chinas thrid and fourth tier cities, to know there are still a lot of kids who are slipping through the cracks.
