The Countdown to the Beijinger Burger Cup Launch Party Starts Now!
The Beijinger Burger Cup is back, and it’s bigger and beefier than ever. We’re shaking it up for 2014 with a slightly new format – instead of a cook off for the finalists, we are hosting a huge Burger Festival Launch Party to kick off this year’s competition.
Join us on Saturday, August 23 at Tube Station Pizza in Lido for Beijing’s biggest ever burger festival. 15 of your favorite local burger vendors (see below), including The Local, Alibi, The Vineyard, Great Leap Brewing and Home Plate Bar-B-Que, will be peddling their wares to up your burger-related excitement before voting for the final 64 burger venues starts. Duvel, Vandergeeten, Great Leap, and Panda Brew will be on hand selling drinks of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic variety should you need something to wash it all down with.
Date: Saturday, August 23, 2014
Time: 11am-8pm
Venue: Tube Station Pizza, Lido (6 FangYuan Xilu, Chaoyang District, near the east corner of Lido Park)
Entrance: Free, burgers available for purchase individually
Voting will go live on Monday, August 25 but until then, stay tuned for Burger Wars (starting this afternoon), where we pit some of the Capital’s top burgers against each other.

Re: The Countdown to the Beijinger Burger Cup Launch Party...
My guess is there is a fee associated with participating. Somebody has to pay for all that space...you think only the TBJ is going to pick up the tab?
@MaxClint: TBJ involved in a publicity stunt? Oh wait, they're a PUBLICation...you've likely hit the nail on the head but not sure if you've uncovered anything.

Re: The Countdown to the Beijinger Burger Cup Launch Party...
To be a little more general, not all of the confirmed participants are burger establishments. Burger establishments for burger wars should be places that might sell other food, but people mainly go there for their burgers. I think places such as Homeplate, Burger Bar, Great Leap, The Local, etc would qualify; however, since when was The New World Hotel, the Vineyard, or Q-Mex popular for their burger?

Re: The Countdown to the Beijinger Burger Cup Launch Party...
Blog updated to include a list of confirmed vendors for the Burger Festival. These are all local restaurants and venues who decided they wanted to take part in the event.
You'll be able to vote among 64 different burgers when voting goes live on August 25, which will then be wittled down as the weeks go by.

Re: The Countdown to the Beijinger Burger Cup Launch Party...
Since when has anyone's favorite local burger list ever included Alibi, Lugas, and the Vineyard? Is Beijing that bereft of burgers or are you guys just grasping at straws? Feels like a publicity stunt..
