Girls Just Wanna Have (International) Fun: Specials for Women’s Day

All empowered women, put your hands up! On March 8 prepare to celebrate to the double-chromosome eXXtreme as International Women’s Day begins. Once again a remarkable showing of female strength has graced the world over – we even have the real boss of the Oval Office hitting Chinese soil soon – so we invite you all to celebrate at a number of special events this weekend made for those who love rocking out to the female vibe.

Feminism in the 21st Century World
Hong Ying, Bidisha, and Carole Martinez, three noted feminist writers and commentators, will discuss the role of feminism in the 21st century as well as its relative importance within society. RMB 80. 10am. The Bookworm.

International Women's Day at The Schoolhouse

International Woman's Day: Women's Health and Sexuality
This frank discussion upon women's sexual health and sexuality will touch upon topics including the growing freedom of sexuality, effects of prostitution and a culture of rising infidelity among men. Talk led by Joan Kaufman, Huang Yingying, and Setsuko Hosoda. RMB 80. 12pm-5pm. The Bookworm.

"What the Lady Deserves" is the theme here as various establishments of the InterContinental Beijing offer different promotions for Women's Day. Buffet restaurant Café O2 offers a "buy-three-get-one-free" so long as one member of your party is graced by a woman. Lobby Lounge, The Bar and Italian Trattoria similarly offer a 20% discount on the stipulation that a woman is a member of your group. DI Chinese Restaurant offers "lady exclusive privileges" with a special discount of 20% along with a hotel home-made "beauty drink".
