Tricycle Art: Planets or Veg?
Remember artist Niko de La Faye? He had a one heck of a ride last spring, cycling from Beijing to Shanghai on a homemade kinetic tricycle. Installed on the back of the ride was a strange abstract model of the cosmos. According to Shanghai Daily, some people correctly interpreted the piece as the universe and others just wisely asked him, "Are you selling vegetables?" At first glance it looks like a frame with some colored blocks. But what's fun is when the pedals are pushed and the kinetic model grinds into motion. It gives the sense of moving particles and planets in space.
There is no question that the man and his trike drew a lot of stares on his 39-day journey in May. This year, Niko is back on the radar again as he prepares the second leg of his trip: Shanghai to Hong Kong. But before that, he's screening videos of his first journey at Zajia this Sunday. We’re not expecting Speed here, but I can’t imagine how this won’t be entertaining. Just take a look at the photos and preview video below.
