the Beijinger is looking for a dynamic Arts & Culture Contributor. This is an out-of-the-office position with set compensation and duties.

What you will do

• Pitch and write articles about arts & culture for the Beijinger magazine and TheBeijinger.com
• Interview Beijing’s artists, authors, performers, filmmakers, etc
• Blog about the city's arts & culture scene
• Represent the Beijinger at events
• Conduct research for (and contribute reporting to) articles by other staff writers and editors
• Constantly seek new ways for the Beijinger to engage with its readers and the community at large

Essential traits

• Native English speaker with strong Chinese skills (OR native Chinese speaker with a solid command of written and spoken English)
• An avid networker with an outgoing personality
• Existing network of contacts within Beijing’s art, literary, theater or film scenes
• Broad knowledge of Beijing's diverse cultural offerings
• A distinctive editorial voice
• Passionate about self-improvement
• Playful, versatile and quick to learn

Desirable traits

• Previous media experience
• Blogging experience (in Chinese or English)
• Active on social media (Weibo, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
