Beijing’s First Gastropub: Park Side Bar & Grill
Billed as Beijing’s first gastropub, the Park Side Bar & Grill has opened just in time for the World Cup. The “gastro” element rests on the shoulders of Zach Lewison (previously chef at Union Bar & Grille), a man known for his ace interpretations of bar food.
The decor is of the standard expected in a London gastropub – clean wood, sleek metal and playful artwork. The marble horseshoe bar dominates the room to remind you that this is a pub first and foremost, and a nice one at that.
Drinks available include beers (RMB 25 upwards), wines (from RMB 38/glass, RMB 188/bottle), cocktails (RMB 48) and a selection of single malts. The daily happy hour (3-8pm), flat screen TVs and spacious deck ought to be a hit.
Daily 10am-late. 9-6 Jiangtai Xilu (opposite Rosedale Hotel), Chaoyang District. (6444 6555) www.parksidebeijing.com 朝阳区将台西路9-6号(珀丽酒店对面)
