Modern Sky Festival to go ahead but no international acts
According to an announcement on the Modern Sky website, the Modern Sky Festival ’08 is set to take place again these coming National Day Holidays. However, they’ve decided not to invite any big name foreign acts to perform at the festival. Initially they’d intended to ask Lou Reed, Blonde Redhead and Bright Eyes to perform at the outdoor festival.
This year there’ll only be three stages (last year there were four), two of which will be located inside the Haidian Park exhibition hall. The main outdoor stage will be set up in the square to the west of the exhibition hall. However, there will be plenty of stalls, music and other activities going on around the park too. Despite reports of a possible combined MIDI and Modern Sky Festival back in April, Modern Sky's website doesn’t make any mention of any kind of collaboration. You can take a look at Alex Pasternack's review of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs performance at last year’s festival here.
