Let the Beijing Dead Steal Your Face at 4corners this Sunday, Apr 24

Get ready to turn your love light on as the Beijing Dead are resurrected from beyond the grave for a one night only gig at 4corners at 9pm this Sunday (Apr 24).

Many, whether you are a self-proclaimed hippy or not, have had a run in with the iconic repertoire or iconography of the Grateful Dead. Their live shows are the stuff of legend. Throughout their 30 years as a band, they played over 2,000 gigs around the world advocating free love and the liberal usage of psychedelics at every stop. Sounds like fun, right?

Beijing has its fair share of cover bands, but the Beijing Dead provide something unique beyond your standard group playing jazz or pop standards. Comprised of a rotating cast of musical misfits from bands like Not There and Randy Able Stable, every show is different and they don’t have to rely on silly costumes like the Beijing Beatles to provide an authentic musical tribute. Nothing against those Beatle boys, they are also great. You can expect these fellas to play a couple hours of Grateful Dead hits, along with the customary extended jams filled with expressive musicianship that is essentially the backbone for this style of music.

The gig was supposed to go down at DDC but it had to be moved last minute to 4corners due to unfortunate circumstances, so take note of the venue change. We are just happy to have them back and playing again. It has been a long time since their last show, over 15 months, but we are sure they still have the chops to make a memorable evening of dead worship. If you can’t make it out to this gig they will also be playing at Jianghu on June 4. Find out more info about the show from the event listing here.
