Again, another prime example of how lousy service makes for a bad experience. People don't go out for entertainment simply for a big lobby in the theater or the size of the screen but for the total movie going experience.

Pre-selected seating is the norm here in China...fine. The customer selects where they would like to sit when purchasing tickets...or so I thought. They say please choose any seat available. So i'd like to choose here [o]

The theater is only 20% full. It's a 10:30pm night showing, the theater WON'T fill up because all the Chinamen are in bed already. Why can't I select an open seat between an adjacent couple? Company policy? Maximizing profits? It's an almost empty theater.
They love the illusion of choice here in China, without any real decision making ability.

It seemed to be such a minor problem that the management CAN and HAS overridden before at MegaBox. So I did what I did the previous time and talked to the manager on duty. This arrogant ass tells me "no". No reason why not, just can't be done. The Chinese's favorite 3 words 没办法 (No way). Why....I don't know, he doesn't know. Just can't be done.

To add fuel to the fire, he ends up staring at the ground pretending not the hear me, ignoring my requests to call higher management or provide contact information of higher management. Then proceeds to talk with the ticket salesperson about other issues. In ANY country or culture, that is a major sign of disrespect, and is just plain rude, and for the duty manager to do something like that is a testament to the people working there, business methods and overall care of the customer...which is zero to none.

Why can't chinese companies learn that, eventually, the "build it, and they will come" business model will not work forever. Chinese consumers are getting smarter, and learning what TRUE customer service is and how it makes the shopping/entertainment/dining experience much more than nice tables and chairs.

That will be my LAST visit to the Sanlitun MegaBox theater and any other MegaBox theater location ever.

PS. I can't seem to select 1 star or 0 stars in the "Rating:" section, but I hope the admin marks my rating of this establishment at "terrible"
