Community Matters: Shuangjing's Biggest Block Party Ever!
This Saturday, April 26 (1-7pm), at Pingod International Art Street come join the second annual Shuangjing Block Party and Chili Cook Off, where there will be plenty of locals showing off their culinary prowess in the name of good ol' face stuffing. Don't eat before you head over as free chili will be blasted out of a fountain for all in attendance (not really, it probably just comes out of boring old pots. While supplies last). Also expect copious amounts of BBQ, burgers, chili dogs, Indian, Mexican, and Japanese food, if the chili doesn't fill you up.
Libations from Tiger, Jing A and Slow Boat will be available to lubricate your community spirit. There will also be several cocktail, cider and wine vendors, if those yeasty brews are not your thing.
Don't forget your kids, because there will also be a massive play zone this year with two bounce houses, face-painting, games, cookies, ice cream and more.
This year's event is twice as large as last year in terms of vendors, booths, and overall awesomeness. So be there or be square. Check out our event listing for more info.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Roots & Shoots organization. If you are not familiar with this charity, it was founded by Jane Goodall in 1991, as a transparent way to fund environmental, conservation, and humanitarian projects. 77.7% of all money donated to or raised by Roots & Shoots goes directly to programs that provide immediate aid to important environmental issues.
