Two Beijing Bars Win Big at DRiNK Awards
The biggest night of the year for China’s drinks industry landed in Shanghai last night, and 24 hours after the National DRiNK Awards, two Beijing bars have made it back to the capital with awards – and quite possibly a well-deserved hangover.
Although these two didn’t manage to nab any of the more prestigious awards like Best New Bar, one of them did take home an award for something Beijing is particularly good at: beer.
None other than Jing-A was in the spotlight last night for the Best Beer Menu, after having taken home the award for the same in DRiNK’s North Regional contest a few months back.
Joining Jing-A is YAN Whisky Bar, which took home the prize for Best Whiskey Menu. With two hutong locations, one in Gulou and the other in Yanjia Hutong (from which it takes its name) in Qianmen, YAN is no stranger to the awards, having also taken home the North Regional award for Best Whiskey Menu for two years now.
Even though only two Beijing bars took home awards from the main event this year, seven were recognized at the North Regional awards which were held near the end of 2023.
Chief among the stellar venues were Andingmen’s Non-Binary, which won Best Bar Design; Rabbit Hole in Dongzhimen, for Best New Bar; and Bar Long Fong in Wangfujing, which took home both Best Cocktail Menu and Bar of the Year for northern China.
Which of these drinking dens have you delved into? Any you’re looking to try in the future? Let us know in the comments!
