Nali Patio to Soldier On Despite Jul 1 Management Change

The web has been alight this week with rumors that Nali Patio – the lifestyle space home to restaurants, clubs and shops sandwiched between Taikooli's South and North – will be closing and all tenants leaving when its original owner takes over management of the space on Jul 1.

Turns out, this is just a rumor.

Yes, the real estate company that owns Nali Patio is terminating its sublease agreement with current management and taking full control of the space as of this Friday, but most tenants we talked to this week already have agreements to continue their lease for at least another year after the handover.

That being said, a few tenants have recently vacated Nali. These include high end cocktail bar the Black Moth, Spanish restaurant Carmen, Baristar Coffee, and makeup studio 3CE.

According to our sources, Black Moth and 3CE closed due to other business issues, while Carmen and Baristar, have close connections to Nali’s current sublease owner, and are in effect moving out with them.

Other rumors have surfaced stating that Nali must be returned to the state it was in when the sublease began a number of years ago, meaning the potential removal of later additions such as the elevators and the rooftop space. Our sources have once again said this is not a certainty.

When we visited Nali Patio this afternoon, we found temporary green paneling partially blocking the entranceway to the courtyard. To get past this, all one has to do is turn right then left and you're inside. All businesses we checked were operating as normal, though most of the plants and cafe tables have been removed from the courtyard area and the elevators cordoned off.

Venues we talked to today clarified that they remain open as usual and will continue to remain open after Jul 1.

Moving forward, there’s always the chance something unexpected could can happen between now and when ownership changes hands at the close of business this Friday, but so far given what we've heard from current tenants, we expect Nali to remain essentially the same.

We'll update this story as we hear more.
