Roasted and Fried: Coffee and Jianbing Festivals Coming Sep 11-13

In two short weeks from now, Beijingers will be all hopped up on coffee beans and ready to devour sesame seeds, thanks to two festivals that will be kicking off in the second weekend of September. First, the Coffee Youth Day Festival will begin at WF Central on Friday, Sep 11, and continue energizing attendees until Sunday, Sep 13. Meanwhile, Peiping Machine’s Jianbing Festival starts frying at Huangbaoche Courtyard on Saturday, Sep 12, and wraps up Sep 13 as well.

Coffee Youth Day Festival

Despite the name, there is no age limit on the second edition of this festival which promises to introduce you to some of China's finest roasters. WF Central in Wangfujing will be packed with more than two dozen Beijing-based roasters and coffee vendors, including Berry Beans, Cabo Coffee, Café Duet, Twoo Cuup, and Naive Coffee. Also joining the party is Roast Hertz of Weihai, Decade Espresso of Tianjin, Seesaw Coffee of Shanghai, and many others.

Peiping Machine Jianbing Festival

In addition to their locally-brewed beer, Peiping Machine also dishes out gourmet jianbing, the Chinese pancake so famous that they made a superhero movie about it.

However, despite hosting the festival, you'll find many more jianbing than their's at Huangbaoche Courtyard. Also frying up the good stuff will be San Wu Tang with their tuna jianbing, as well as Mexican-style twists from Avotaco and Q Mex. You’ll even find cumin lamb and spicy crawfish jianbing from Matcha Village, plus various other takes on this classic street food. Oh, and let’s not forget, there will be plenty of beer.
