A hundred years ago in the city of Beijing many places were off limits to commoners. The yellow roofs of the Forbidden City housed one such mysterious impenetrable compound, whilst another was the fortified Legation Quarter where Beijing’s diplomatic society was located. There were several other areas of the city which were not strictly speaking forbidden to visit, but which were seen as highly morally questionable to frequent. One such area was the Bada Hutong, with its brothels and opium dens. On September 6 we will connect all three of these forbidden areas when we recommence our historical runs. Be quick to register because we only have a limited amount of places.
This is a Historical Run rather than a timed race. The course will be around 10 kilometers, and we will finish the route in two hours with a few stops along the way to learn about the historical background of the places we pass. To participate, you need to be able to run at a pace of 9km/hour.
All profit from the Run will be donated to an NGO helping children with cerebral palsy in western China.
