EAT: Veganuary at Moka Bros, New Year Brunch at Rive Gauche, Old vs. New at Beersmith

EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.

Throughout Jan: Veganuary at Moka Bros

Moka Bros is celebrating that plant-based life and offering a helping hand for those attempting Vegnauary by rewarding you for eating vegetarian or vegan all January and February long. Simply grab a Veganuary Punch Card from any Moka Bros location, eat vegan or vegetarian dishes (such as their vegan veggie medley salad, pictured above) 10 times, and they'll give you a free vegan or vegetarian power bowl on the house.

Jan 1: New Year's Day Brunch at Rive Gauche

After a night of debauchery, Rive Gauche (which was recently awarded a Michelin Plate) is offering an opportunity to refuel and reset with their New Year's Day brunch. For RMB 453 per person, enjoy a multi-course menu featuring both healthy dishes like quinoa, cauliflower, and green apple salad, and more indulgent treats like eggs Benedict, slow-cooked veal shank, and smoked salmon with potato salad. Diners can also enjoy 50 percent off Champagne and 20 percent off red and white wine. Visit their WeChat for more info or to buy tickets.

Old vs. new favorites at Beersmith

Fittingly for the new year, it's old vs. new at Beersmith right now. Old favorites from the lunch and brunch menu are going up against new challengers to keep your midday routine feeling fresh. Will you choose rigatoni with beef ragout or opt for the new spaghetti with shrimp, garlic, and chili? Or make the very difficult choice between sausage and mash or ribeye steak with roasted root vegetable salad. Lunch starts from RMB 150.

Still stuck as to where to spend NYE? There are plenty of options here.
