Thomas Talhelm, a poor PhD student in 2013, was here during the airpocalypse. He could not afford to pay for an expensive air purifier, but was nonetheless worried about his health. Therefore, he created a DIY device in order to fight indoors what was happening outdoors.
A company derived from his invention. SmartAir, a social enterprise working to reduce the impact of air pollution. Their two missions are to provide free information and knowledge on air pollution, as well as low-cost, highly effective air purifiers to get more people clean air.
