Technology in Southeast Asia: Outside Looking In
Southeast Asia has been attracting increasing attention from entrepreneurs and capitalists from both within and outside the region. Chinese entrepreneurs and Investors are among the first few batches of groundbreakers to set eyes on the area, as their home market’s competitiveness and saturation led some to the exodus. In partnership with Global Shapers Beijing, Tsinghua SEM X-elerator will host this talk on tech in Southeast Asia, with a panel that includes active China-based experts, investors, entrepreneurs, and executives. Free (click here to register). 10.30am-1pm. Popular Robotics-Robociti Workshop: Mars Rover Obstacle Avoidance
In this workshop, students will create a wheeled robot similar to the robotic rovers sent to explore planet Mars by NASA, such as Mars Rovers Opportunity and Curiosity. Once complete, they'll set them off through a challenging obstacle course, navigating potential hazards with the use of sensors and other gadgetry. Americans Abroad | Landscape and Artistic Exchange, 1800–1920
In this exhibition, 50 works by American artists who traveled to Europe in the 19th century are grouped into four categories: Landscape and National Identity; Tourists, Students, and Expatriates; American Artists and French Impressionism; Coda: Landscapes of Modernity. The works, which date from the early 1800s to the 1920s, demonstrate how the art of England, the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Italy influenced American landscape painters and how they in turn used those styles to capture North American nature in a magnificent narrative style and charm.
