10 years. It’s a long time. A decade ago the year was 2008. Barrack Obama was president of the United States, no one knew what Moka Bros was, Beijing was fresh off a historic Summer Olympics and you couldn’t find a queue for cheese tea if you tried. And, that fall, in the heart of Beijing, three longtime friends, Daniel Urdaneta, Alex Molina and Eva Biorck opened the doors of Mosto in Sanitun’s Nali Patio, and the Mosto Group’s story began.
Born out of Chef Daniel’s passion for South American cuisine, Alex’s hospitality expertise and Eva’s marketing acumen, Mosto was created not only to serve up the delicious food, but to provide a space that welcomed all. Somewhere you had only meant to stop by for post-work drinks, yet you would find yourself hours later, still at the bar, enjoying good food and great company.
Mosto has experienced many prestigious moments over the years, from serving Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden to hosting the 2008 Team USA Olympic Gold Medalists Rowing Team. But the moments that stand out most are the memories that we have made. Before even officially opening our doors, we knew we had done something special when we invited friends and family to preview our menu. The windows were boarded up, the staff was still in training, yet, delicious food poured from the open kitchen and the contagious atmosphere, that feeling of warmth and comfort, was already present.
We have, over the past decade remained dedicated to maintaining the magic that is Mosto, while continuing to push the boundaries of what is expected from a restaurant. From music and atmosphere, to events and collaborations, we are always striving to remain at the forefront of the industry with fresh ideas and boundless passion. We are also lucky enough to be surrounded by a creative and hardworking team. who have become our extended Beijing family, and, many of whom started this journey with us a decade ago. While we have grown a lot over the years, expanding Mosto Group throughout Beijing, to Shanghai and Chengdu, Mosto has remained the heart and soul of our company, and we are proud and honored to be celebrating this milestone anniversary.
To celebrate 10 years of Mosto, we’ve drawn inspiration, as always, from our friends. For 10 days, beginning on November 29th, Mosto will be hosting a series of very special menus brought to you by some of our closest friends and culinary inspirations. Migas, TRB, Hatsune and Obentos will all be taking over our kitchen for two nights each to serve their unique interpretation of the Mosto experience. To kick off this 10-day celebration, we invite you to join us on November 29th and 30th to try our brand-new dinner menu as we celebrate 10 years of unforgettable memories and look forward to many more.
