It may be tucked away in the New Poly Building, but this is still one of the nicest little museums in Beijing, and it’s definitely worth a visit. The Poly Group is a well-funded semi-private
organization dedicated to buying Chinese artifacts abroad and bringing them home, and their two main collections here (ancient bronzes and Buddha statues from throughout Chinese history) are each well-lit and well presented. Stroll through and notice the differences between
periods/regions, and appreciate the subtle expressions on the faces of the Buddhas. You can also find four of the 12 bronze animal heads that were looted from the Old Summer Palace in 1860 – when the Poly Group brought them back to China it was considered a national triumph. Self-guided audio tours are available for 10 kuai.
