Why Is The Rum Always Gone? Cu Ju to Close in Current Location

Although it will host the NFL season kick-off on Friday at 8:30am, the season is ending early for one of the Beijinger's Outstanding Sports Bars, Cu Ju Beijing, which will close in its current location at the end of the month, according to proprietor Badr Benjelloun.

A disagreement with the landlord over rising rents led to the decision. However, Benjelloun is already seeking a new harbor for his rum dispensary.

"The pirate ship will sail again," he said.

Having just celebrated its first anniversary, the tiny venue found a quick and loyal following among sports fans whose favorite teams were playing in late night European Cup matches or early morning NFL match-ups. Benjelloun has already amassed about 130 rums from 20 countries, and Cu Ju was noted for its Sunday night Moroccan dinners.

Disclosure: Badr Benjelloun is the CTO of True Run Media, parent company of the Beijinger.
