the Beijinger - September 2011: A Taste of Home
The sharper among you have will have noticed that the September issue of the Beijinger is out now - you've been able to read it on Issuu.com since Monday but it's now on the streets too. This month's magazine is for the homesick amongst us as it offers a taste of home and also our desire to try new things, as we eat our way around the world in Beijing. We've been out for dinner with representatives of some of the various embassies in Beijing to find out what they miss from home and where in Beijing we can all try authentic national cuisine. Needless to say the British Embassy were not among the number.
Also this month, we focus on Spanish regional cuisine in our Dining Feature, we find out how dirty our clothes are in our Ecology Feature and Paul French unveils a 75-year-old murder mystery in Arts & Culture. Elsewhere we've had a chat with New Order and Joy Division rabble rouser Peter Hook, we've met Yanling Duan of Beijing Design Week and the Beijing Devils told us all about rugby and The Den. Not forgetting our Explore Feature on Lake Superior, an interview with a dinosaur and a Taste Test on pepperoni pizza. There's lots more to tell but we don't want to spoil your appetite.
Toss in the best in events, new bars, restaurants and shops plus old favorites like Ich Bin Ein Beijinger (where Kaiser riffs on the Sedaris affair) and you've got the September issue of the Beijinger. Since we love you all so much we didn't stop there. We've got more prizes than ever, including brunch for two at Maison Boulud and a free team in the ClubFootball league.
