Agenda May 21st to June 3rd

In the latest agenda, actress Jiang Wenli talks to us ahead of her starring role in Lin Zhaohua’s production of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard at the Poly Theatre. We've also got interviews with Affordable Art Beijing founder Tamsin Roberts, Samia Asif of Mughal’s Pakistani and Indian restaurant and Tony Chen, CEO of apbc Offices.

Among the new restaurant and bar openings we cover in this issue are Budapest, Beijing’s first Hungarian restaurant, Malaysian favorite Nyonya Kitchen’s second branch and i-Ultra's rebirth as Thai-themed lounge Ruby Khi.

The issue is rounded out with Lists taking in Beijing's best dim sum, cooking classes, the NineGates International Jazz Festival and some of the city’s top bookstores. And last but not least, 14 days of great events in our Day-by-Day event listings.

Agenda Apr 23 to May 6

This issue, we talk to Conrad Pi about The Art of War’s event on May 23, with two pairs of tickets up for grabs in our competition! Musicians Abigail Washburn and Dave Liang tell us about Afterquake, an EP they’ve made to commemorate the Sichuan earthquake and its victims. We also interview chef Claudio Sadler and GM Gianluca Fusetto from Ristorante Sadler, and designer and brand director Patrick Yip tells us about Tufenkian’s luxury rugs, made in Nepal from the wool of Himalayan sheep. Whether your mama is in Beijing, Berlin or Buenos Aires, our Lists have plenty of ideas for Mother’s Day. In Try These, we look at new openings like Luga’s Pho Pho, Sim-Sim, Scarlett, Juicy Spot and Danger Doyle’s, and our Day-by-Day listings cover the best events coming up in the next fourteen days.
