In the spring of 2025, these three top Japanese jazz artists will gather again. This time, they accepted the invitation of SATORI to come to China to perform an almost unprecedented trio collaboration on the Blue Note stage in Shanghai and Beijing.
What kind of show will this be?
The trio of Akio Sakada, Masahiro Funayama and Takahiro Seo will not be limited to free jazz or improvisation, but a pioneering musical exploration that incorporates a variety of musical styles and expressions. Their backgrounds and musical experiences are diverse - Ms. Sawada's baritone saxophone and clarinet played with both the wildness of free jazz and often a folk narrative; Hironari Funamori's percussion music combines the melodies of traditional Japanese instruments with modern rhythms to deliver a deep and spiritual sound. Takashi Senao's bass will not disappoint. The classical heaviness, jazz rhythms and experimental music will be melted on the stage.
