Currently a doctoral candidate in jazz at Mahidol University in Thailand, Peiyi Liu obtained his undergraduate degree from Berklee College of Music in the United States, where he studied under renowned jazz saxophonist George Garzone, educators Ed Tomassi, Hal Crook, and Dr. Shannon LeClaire. He subsequently earned a master's degree from the New England Conservatory, focusing on jazz saxophone performance and composition. His mentors included internationally acclaimed educators such as Jerry Bergonzi, Grammy Award winner Donny McCaslin, and avant-garde musicians Mark Turner and Miguel Zenón. He also received guidance from jazz trumpet educator John McNeil. Additionally, Liu delved into jazz composition under the tutelage of Ken Schaphorst and Frank Carlberg, and completed a year-long ensemble coaching course with legendary drummer Bob Moses.



In 2014, Peiyi Liu recorded and released his debut jazz album, “15 Years”, which features performances by jazz saxophone master Jerry Bergonzi. From 2015 to 2020, he served as the global ambassador for the American saxophone brand Autigua and completed his second original jazz album, “Flow of Soul”, in 2019. As a professional saxophonist, he has resided in the United States for an extended period, collaborating actively with international musicians and receiving widespread acclaim. In 2019, Liu performed alongside contemporary jazz bass legend Dave Holland at Brown Hall in Boston. In 2013, he shared the stage with renowned saxophonist Walter Beasley to interpret the classic piece “Free”Furthermore, in 2022, he was interviewed by China Plus, the international broadcasting service of China Radio International.



Peiyi Liu has conducted saxophone lectures and solo concerts in various regions worldwide, with notable venues including Blue Note, Berklee Performance Center, the Austrian Embassy, Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Xi'an Conservatory of Music, Xinjiang Arts University, Northwest Minzu University, Shandong University of Arts, and Beijing Midi School of Music. He has successfully guided numerous students who received scholarships and gained admission to prestigious institutions such as Berklee College of Music and the Prince Claus Conservatoire in the Netherlands.
