Marita Cheng is an influential Australian technology entrepreneur, engineer, and speaker known for her significant contributions to robotics and engineering, especially for promoting women in technology. She was born in Cairns, Queensland, Australia, and has been a prominent figure in the tech world for her innovative work and advocacy.


Marita is best known for founding Robogals Global in 2008, an international student-run organization that aims to increase the participation of young women in engineering and technology through workshops and community initiatives. Robogals has since expanded globally, reaching thousands of girls worldwide with the message that engineering and technology careers are accessible and rewarding paths for women.


She studied at the University of Melbourne, earning a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) and a Bachelor of Computer Science. Her dedication and skills have earned her numerous awards and recognitions, including being named Young Australian of the Year in 2012 for her efforts in encouraging girls to pursue engineering studies and careers.


In addition to her work with Robogals, Marita Cheng has founded several other tech companies, including Aipoly, an AI company that developed technology to help visually impaired individuals recognize objects through computer vision.
