Antonio Carlos Jobim was a Brazilian musician whom many of his Brazilian and foreign friends affectionately called "Tom."Jobin was a musical genius. He was an important figure in the musical creation of Bossa Nova, known for his timeless compositions that capture the essence of Brazilian culture and people.

Throughout the 1960s, Jobim became a prominent figure in the Brazilian music scene. During this time he composed many of his most famous songs, including "Garota de Ipanema," "Corcovado" and "Desafinado." His unique blend of samba, bossa nova and jazz became known as the "Sound of Jobim" and earned him worldwide acclaim.
