Chinese sugar art - sugar blowing and sugar painting - has been a staple folk art at markets and fairs for hundreds of years. Both can technically be eaten but nowadays are just bought for fun! Want to try this for yourself? Come join us on November 13th and learn how to use sugar to create beautiful pieces of edible art in a workshop suitable for the whole family!
Seemingly simple, but actually quite challenging, both sugar painting and sugar blowing require a lot of practice to get right! Sugar painting is done by ladling melted sugar onto a metal sheet which rapidly cools the sugar. Sugar blowing is done by kneading hot sugar, pulling out a section of sugar to form a straw, then blowing through the straw to inflate the sugar, at which point it can be formed into a shape. In both types of sugar art animal designs are most common.

This workshop is suitable for both adults and kids over 8 years old (though since this workshop involves handling hot sugar, children under 12 must come with a parent).
