The name Pommard comes from Pomona, the goddess of fruits and gardens. At 250 meters above sea level, it is surrounded by rolling vineyards and grows almost exclusively on delicate Pinot Noir.

The red wine produced is powerful, elegant and charming, and has a unique aroma. As early as the Middle Ages, it was recommended as the flower of Burgundy, and other wines were willing to use it as a reference standard.

Château Violet Gilmar has many outstanding first crus in the village of Pommard: Epenots, Rugiens, Platiere, Derriere Saint-Jean, and the most famous first crus of Beaune, Clos des Mouches, etc.

Named by Jasper Morris as the winery with the best Premier Cru in Pommard. There is no grand cru in the village of Pommard, but the quality of the first crus of Violo Gilma is comparable to that of the grand crus.

Almost all the vines planted in the vineyard are more than 60 years old, and the yield is very low and very rare.

Thierry joined the winery in 1978 and in 1987 Thierry suffered a serious car accident and underwent 73 surgeries! After recovering from the brush with death, Thierry also has a new understanding and view of the vineyard.

He began to manage his vineyards organically and biodynamically, with a greater respect for nature and life. Thierry is more of a classic Pommard, elegant and delicate but with a firm structure.

Well-known wine critic Allen Meadows once described Thierry as "a man who will never be beaten" and that Violet Gilmar is "a leader in the high-end standard".
