About Chatroom

This is a LIVE event, so don’t expect to be sat at a computer waiting to log into a virtual chatroom. We want to see you there in person so you can meet our expert counselor and be part of our community!

Chatroom will be a mixture of expert mental health guidance, facilitated group discussion, and personal storytelling from our guests. This live event will give you tools to strengthen your relationships; be it with friends, a new love interest or your long-term partner.

Chatroom Conflict Resolution Presentation:

Our mental health expert XiaoJie of CandleX will start the night off at 8pm with a presentation on conflict resolution. She will be looking at the works and relationship theories of Dr. John Gottman. The Gottman Institute is the culmination of Drs. John and Julie Gottman’s life work as researchers and clinical psychologists. Their approach to relationship health has been developed from over 40 years of research with more than 3,000 couples—the most extensive study ever done on marital stability.

After that, we’ll hear from members of the Date Night China and CandleX community who would like to share a story about their own experiences with conflict resolution in relationships. Throughout the night, our expert will provide feedback and advice and facilitate discussions to deepen our understanding of mental health issues around relationships.

Do you need to be in a relationship to attend?

Not at all. Whether you're single, dating, in a couple, or whatever your relationship status and preference is, anyone is welcome to join. We all experience some kind of conflict in relationships, and the conflict resolution tools that our expert will discuss are great tools for anyone to use.

Do you have a story you would like to share? Great! You’ll have 5 mins to speak and then our mental health expert and audience may want to ask you some questions about your experience.

If you have a story you’d like to share, add Nathan from DNC on WeChat and reserve a speaking spot, or come and speak on the night. Nathan will be able to talk you through the speaking process and give you some guidance.
