On September 21, China’s State Council announced the establishment of a new pilot free trade zones (FTZs) in Beijing, marking multiple areas including Beijing’s CBD and Jin Zhan International Cooperation Service Zone to launch a series of test policies, tax cuts, and industry-specific liberalization for companies to benefit from.
Beijing FTZ is seen as an effective approach to further leverage Beijing’s advantage in international resources to strengthen financial services, relax industry access in professional services and facilitate investment, innovation, and trade.
Although great progress has been made in the development of Beijing FTZ by placing supportive and distinguished policies, further measures including building inclusive business ecosystems, and strong talent pools are required to ensure the continued success of the zone and provide tremendous opportunities for entrepreneurs, talents, and businesses.
