The Huanghuacheng great wall is almost 11 kilometers long and joins with Mutianyu Great Wall in the east, and Juyongguan Great wall Pass and Badaling Great wall in the west. The trail we hike is about 10 km long. We will hiking through the wild west part of Huanghuacheng Great Wall and the restored east part of Huanghuacheng Great Wall.

From our Lama temple meeting point we drive for about 1,5 hour till we reach Huanghuachang. A 30 minute flat walk on a winding little dirt road trough the chesnut orchards brings us to the unrestored section of the Huanghuacheng Great Wall. We hike for a good hour on top of the crumbled and overgrown Great Wall till we hit the lowest tower.

Here the and restored, yet impressive section of the Huanghuachang Great Wall starts. The Wall rises out of the valley following a steep hill ridge so what follows for us is a steep climb towards the highest tower. At this General tower we set our camera’s into sunset mode an relax. We take in the fantastic view of the Huanghuangchang Great Wall curving over the mountain ridges until it drops into the lake.

After sunset we hike down for another 20 minutes and have a dinner at a local restaurant with view on the the Great Wall.

Around 9 pm we should be back at our Lama temple subway station meeting point.
