Shining Soundscape and Live Beijing Music join forces for an immersive, musically stimulating and visually enticing evening of audio-visual improvisation/feedback that find three artists working with visuals to varying degrees.

For the occasion, we’ve invited the Bangalore award winning bassist, film composer and electronic artist Sandeep Madhavan aka The Burning Deck. With influences that span everything from 70s prog-rock and jazz fusion to the Bristol sound of the 90s, while assimilating elements of hip hop, dubstep and drum n bass, he creates a sound is always going to be out-of-the-box. He has collaborated with a whole host of Indian and international artists like Jeet Thayil (Still Dirty), Matteo Fraboni, DJ Grissino, Kuru Circus and Orchestra, and produced for international artists like Heems (Das Racist/Swet Shop Boys) and homegrown heroes like Smokey the Ghost and Ragged Skull. For tonight, he’ll be joined by local jazz guitarist Zhang Ding as well as artist, illustrator, designer, and experimental musician Nan Guazi whose work has made one of her generation's more recognizable artists. With a more freely flow avenue between the music and the visuals, we will also be encouraging the audience to become involved, taking turns illustrating and creating based on their reactions to the music. Joining The Burning Deck will be two locally based artists - thruoutin and gogoj, whose intricate productions and forays into experimental music and sound design has made their live shows a unique experience each and every time. Shengjie aka gogoj is an experimental musician and visual artist from Beijing. Her musical performances can be quite varied and seems to change for each show - ranging from her playing cello to playing electronic music with her own visuals accompanying it. Though her visuals are static and unchanging, her music will be in constant flux - and the two will converge this evening. The American born electronic producer and multi-instrumentalist, thruoutin, whose work revolves around the combination of different genres with a focus on organic and digital sounds, sometimes with his Mengqi-enhanced pipa, tape manipulation, and field recordings - he'll be joined by fellow Shining Soundcaper Dann Gaymer.

The Burning Deck is the moniker of award winning bassist, film composer and electronic artist Sandeep Madhavan. With influences that span everything from 70s prog-rock and jazz fusion to the Bristol sound of the 90s, while assimilating elements of hip hop, dubstep and drum n bass, the sound is always going to be out-of-the-box. As The Burning Deck, Sandeep has released two albums, Kalinihta (2013) and Deluge (2014) and one EP in 2015 with Brussels based finger drummer and DJ Andrea Rubata, called Mr Breadstick vs The Burning Deck. He has collaborated with a whole host of Indian and International artists like Jeet Thayil (Still Dirty/Booker Prize Nominee for Narcopolis, 2013), Matteo Fraboni, DJ Grissino, Kuru Circus and Orchestra, and produced for international artists like Heems (Das Racist/Swet Shop Boys) and homegrown heroes like Smokey the Ghost and Ragged Skull. Sandeep’s film scores include Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (2015), Sann Pachatthar (2016) and Running Shaadi (2017). He is based in Mumbai where he composes primarily for film and advertising.

GOGOJ (盛洁)

盛洁，1975年，北京，中国。

从事声音与影像的艺术创作，作品形式包括：录像, 声音，装置，行为。2010年创办Shan视听实验室，一个以交流为平台的新媒体艺术私人工作室。2000年留学于法国及英国，2005年回国生活和工作。作品展览於亚洲，欧洲，美洲。2000年－2005年就读于法国斯特拉丝堡高等国立装饰美术学院，艺术系（主修录象艺术）DNSEP(Diplôme Nationnal Supérieur Expréssion Plastique) De L’École Supérieure Des Arts Décoratifs De Strasbourg 获法国国立高等艺术专业硕士文凭。

2002年3月交换学生项目三个月，於苏格兰首都爱丁堡美术学院，主修电影电视专业。SHENG JIE, born in 1975 . based in Beijing China.

American born electronic producer and multi-instrumentalist, thruoutin, has been based in China since 2009. His work varies from project to project, but often revolves around the combining of different genres with a focus on organic and digital sounds. He has extensively toured through North America and Asia; releasing music on several labels along the way. Most Recently he has put out work with Beijing labels RAN Music and Jingweir as well as performing on Boiler Room China and playing at festivals such as Wetware and Jiangbei.

南瓜子 Nan Guazi

苏楠笔名南瓜子，艺术家，插画师，设计师，实验音乐人等多重身份。毕业于四川美术学院。艺术作品极具标志性有很高的辨识度，是中国80后最具代表性的女插画师之一。

五岁开始绘画，十三岁绘画之路上获得殊荣，在插画行业从业已达十五年之久。插图作品色彩鲜明风格独特极富个人色彩，在观念表达上崇尚自然能量，作品里透露出对于宇宙世界自然生命的敬畏与热爱。

Nan Guazi is the pen name of Su Nan, an artist, illustrator, designer, and experimental musician who takes on multiple identities. A graduate from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, her work is iconic and highly recognized both inside China and internationally. She is recognized as one of the most popular female illustrators born in the 1980s in China.
