The name he carries signifies a techno icon. John Acquaviva represents one of the most exciting producers the community has ever experienced, and his quintessential entrepreneurship has shaped it to what the community is today.
Born in Orsaea di Puglia, Italy, young boy Acquaviva emigrated with his parents to London, Ontario in Canada where he was crowned #1 Dj by Notorieties – the best club in town – at the age of just 19. His flawless song selection and beat matching lead him to become the pillar of London and Southern Ontario’s music scene in the following years.
Thanks to his penchant for electronic music production, Acquaviva is enjoying a nearly four-decade-long successful career. Under a constant demand he has spun music from Amnesia and Space Ibiza to Berghain Berlin, Output NYC, to Rex in Paris, to Ministry of Sound and Fabric London (UK), and beyond. John’s personal masterful technique and firm grasp of the trade led to his fruitful involvement with the digital audio source editing software Final Scratch and the most used online hub for electronic music – Beatport, as their vital founder and active member.
Together with Richie Hawtin John Acquaviva co-founded Plus8 Records in 1990 releasing artists such as Cybersonik, Speedy J, Kenny Larkin and Plastikman, and later on Definitive Records with a more progressive and tech house sound from Olivier Giacomotto, Thomas Gandey and Definition, to name a few.
