This event is to raise awareness for the Magic Hospital charity. We have collaborated with four of Beijing's biggest acts at Beijing's hottest music venue to raise as much money as possible so they can continue carrying on the great work that they do. All proceeds will go to the charity.

Magic Hospital

Magic Hospital was born in Beijing Ertong hospital 15 years ago and in 2004 we took our next step and opened our European office in Paris , France to support the China activities and also to implement projects in Europe .Based on the "Xiao ye shi yao" argument, which is the Chinese version for "laughter is the best medicine" , we work with sick, hospitalised, handicapped, orphaned, abused and at risk children aged 0-18 who are permanently or temporarily deprived of a carefree and fun childhood.

Through the tireless dedication of determined volunteers, endless energy of Chinese clowns, art and English teachers, the support from the hospital and orphanage staff, international schools, individuals inside and outside China - Magic Hospital was able to form a compassionate organisation committed to making a positive impact in the lives of sick, neglected and lonely children. The name Magic Hospital came natural and was chosen not only for our desire to turn a hospital into a more pleasant place, but also to express a mindset where we are ready to appear out of the blue to help, to simply brighten a day or to make for a more pleasant hospital stay.

Bands:

Solid Gold (Funk, Soul, R&B)

Tavey Lean and The Solid Gold Dream Machine (more conveniently known as Solid Gold) have been together in various shapes, sizes, forms and formations for the last decade, bringing their own nu-wave-nostalgic feel to the covers they perform.

As trendsetters of the "Postmodern Jukebox" scene of Beijing, Solid Gold maintain a focus on modernising tunes from the past; a cocktail of known crowd pleasers mixed with those-songs-you-swear-you've-heard-somewhere-before leaves audiences both invigorated, and refreshed. Taking influence from the wide array of musical preferences, combined creative talents, and collective years of experience shared amongst the eight-piece band, the specific end goal in mind is always…Fun.

The cogs keep turning, bringing the party as often as possible. Jump aboard Solid Gold's very own Soul Train where you are invited to sing it with Stevie, move it with Marvin and (depending on how much liquid fun you consume), enjoy a showcase of once forgotten classics you'll not forget any time soon.

Dan Taylor (Indie, Folk)

Dan Taylor, folk singer and front man of the psych folk group "The Harridans" has been playing about the Beijing music scene for the past couple of years. His solo gigs take a slightly more restrained attitude, focusing on the classical guitar and folk leanings of old England. Dan Taylor presents songs that draw on Celtic tradition and are infused with that poignancy and sadness so often found within the folk music of the British isles. This is a set you don't want to miss!

Nocturnes (Indie-Electronic)

Leslie - vocals / lyrics
David - guitar / production Their music has been described as "sultry", "atmospheric" and "emotional", and sits somewhere between the intensity of Foals, the electronic elements of Bonobo and the pop sensibilities of Coldplay.

The band was officially formed in late 2015 and in March 2016 they independently released their first EP, A World Full of Adults. A string of gigs and festivals followed, culminating in their support of American Indie Rock band Surfer Blood at Yugong Yishan. In 2017 they also performed at MIDI, Zhangbei and Simple Life Festivals, where they engaged with fans on much larger stages than before.

They released their first EP with Cao Tai, Dust Into Glory, in March 2017, receiving positive reviews and strong online play, with the EP being described as a "sensual concoction of impeccably groomed arrangements, fluid nuanced piano chords and a seamless blend of English and Chinese vocals that linger in the air." Their song, Shutter, was featured internationally in Spotify's Viral 50 as the number 1 song on the week of its release. Another song, Perfect Tide, was featured in the documentary Altay Frontier, a documentary about modern and traditional skiers in Xinjiang, China.

Joker's Belief (Rock, Funk, Neo soul)

esters and Jokers of medieval times were required to bring levity to the court and to meet the Kings requests. One Jester was required to entertain and amuse his King on demand, and if he failed, he was killed. The Jester lived - we call it "Jokers Belief" 5 nationalities with 5 influences bringing you a fusion of funk, rock and Neo soul.
