Beijing’s hottest indie rock band, 纸老虎 The Paper Tigers, will celebrate the release of its first single and accompanying music video at Dusk Dawn Club, the hip music club and events space enlivening the capital’s hutong arts scene.

With an explosive and “danceable” sound reminiscent of The Clash and The Cure meets Block Party and The Arctic Monkeys, the band’s original new music is the creation of experienced and successful musicians from four continents forged together in Beijing’s booming music scene.

Indeed, the song "Hutong Hipster" and its video are tributes to life lived in Beijing and in its fertile cultural underground, where creativity comes with whiskey, bicycles and rock and roll.

And The Paper Tigers are rock and roll: Charismatic lead singer, Joey Catanzaro, who previously fronted veteran Australian punk rock band Unpaid Debt, has shared festival and tour bills with internationally acclaimed groups such as NOFX, The Bouncing Souls and Against Me.

Also playing on an evening of what Dusk Dawn Club calls “Massive Rock” are hard rock, blues and funk outfit OCC; the cinematic post-metal of INXU; and the progressive rock of the Feng Di Band. If all work and no play makes everyone dull boys and girls, then it’s time to jump onto your bikes and get out into that Beijing night with The Paper Tigers.
