Located in the riverfront of Wenyu River, Beijing Chaoyang district, a traditional wooden architecture restoration site has silently been operating for more than two decades. Founded by Sam Zhan, a man who dedicated half his lifetime in the discovery of ancient Chinese timber constructions, the site is a base for the inheritance of traditional Chinese carpentry. In the spring of 2017, Zhan encountered three friends who shared his view. Together, they decided to turn the site into an interactive resort by the name of 【FUTURALI Culture & Creativity Park】, which aims to create inspiring cultural and educational programs. The park plans to open to the public by 2018.
As part of a series of trial operations to the public, Futurali Culture & Creativity Park will currently provide two interactive seminars. First of all, Futurali Culture & Creativity Park, in collaboration with Anthony Lau from Genworks, will carry out a brand new, innovative traditional Chinese architectural carpentry lesson. Guests will be seated in an ancient, three hundred years old, timber architecture. During the lesson, guests will gain hands on experience on how to create traditional Chinese timber construction without using a single nail. We sincerely invite architects and designers from all over the world to join us.
Secondly, Futurali Culture & Creativity Park will offer nearly a hundred trees, located on more than 10,000 m2 of land, for the design of our tree house garden (twenty tree houses interconnected via overpass). Lead by Spanish architect GERARDO GARCIA ALVAREZ, the design for our tree house garden will be open to prospective collaborators and partnerships. We eagerly invite those who are interested in sustainable green architecture to join us.
