White Box Museum of Art is located in Beijing 798 art district, on a site that was previously a Bauhaus- influenced factory area, which was designed by East Germany in 1952. Based on the abandoned military factory, White Box Arts and Culture Cooperation invested to redesign and develop it into a maximum amount of hanging exhibition space, with the intention of remaining the essence of these original structures. Its multi-functional design aims to fulfill the various needs of contemporary life by offering platforms for exhibitions, creative design, academic exchange, symposiums and educational program.
The ground floor gallery has 500 square meters of indoor uninterrupted exhibition space, and the ceiling of the main hall reaches as high as 9 meters. While the first floor gallery is 160sq meters. The gallery’s main function is that showcasing Chinese Contemporary Art and running a diverse range of events and activities. The
White Box Café is a great place to gather with friends. The café is about 300 sq meters in total with indoor and outdoor area. The kitchen services a wide choice of hot and cold food, soft drinks and smoothies coffee. Wi-Fi is available.
The White Box VIP section occupies 180 sq meters, which is located on the second floor. The purpose of VIP section is for various forms of encounter, such as press conference, contemporary and experimental art performance, symposia and seminar, and gathering for film and video.
White Box Museum of Art has around 800 square meters of exhibition space, and its chief mission is driving a deeper communication between Chinese Contemporary Arts and international culture, via holding different types of exhibition and activity which relate to CCA.
The White Box VIP section regularly holds diverse kinds of academic symposia of arts, and invites domestic and international aesthetic theorists, scholars, critics and curators to host academic conference of arts -- for exploring varied resources in fine art area, such as sharing information, encouraging the mix- field cooperation, extending fine art education and inspiring mass public. The VIP section can also host exhibition openings, buffets, private parties, creative and interactive performances, live shows, concerts, auctions, corporate and fashion events.
