At first glance, all the usual elements of a vintage store are there: a neon sign, antique cameras as décor, and a collection of dusty treasures. The only thing is, this shop isn’t in Gulou, and it carries more designer eyewear than apparel. The display cases are piled high with Ray-Ban aviators (RMB 1,500), Ksubi retro frames (RMB 1,280) and Karen Walker tortoise sunglasses (RMB 1,400). What little space there is for clothing is allotted to Hawaiian shirts (RMB 150) and denim jeans. The few pieces of jewelry show a proclivity for the American Midwest (worn leather, turquoise beading) and British memorabilia (mainly the Union Jack). Even more randomly, a battered fridge behind the cash register is stocked full of imported beers, which you can sip away at on the tables out front.
