Toro Bar 鱼吧

Replacing Sugar Bar, this smart sushi joint showcases excellent sushi, sashimi, barbecue and a range of sake and Japanese beers. The toro (fatty tuna belly) comes airlifted-in frozen from Tokyo’s fish markets. Better to skip this overfished, overpriced catch and instead reel in some of the fresh Dalian fare on display, like salmon, octopus, snapper and sea urchin. The rice is equally fine – plump grains infused with a mouthwatering tingle of rice-wine vinegar – so balanced and tasty you can eat it all on its own. On a hot day, try the Inaniwa udon noodles, a gourmet brand from Japan served cold over ice cubes.
