Beijing’s largest car rental chain offers a large variety of models, though availability is spotty. At the low end, a domestically made Suzuki compact goes for RMB 100-150 per day or RMB 3,000 per month, or splurge on an Audi A6 (RMB 720-1,200 per day or RMB 12,000 a month). In the mid-range are Hyundais (RMB 200-380 per day) and VW Jettas (RMB 140-280). Models come with limited mileage, typically 180km per day, and extra mileage is charged steeply (RMB 2 per kilometer). Deposits run RMB 5,000-15,000, a Chinese driver’s license is a must, and those without a Beijing resident’s card (hukou) must find a city resident to be the guarantor for the rental.
