Sealing stirs memories of Q Bar’s original look. It’s wrought out of an unlikely space – admit it, you never thought “Why doesn’t somebody put a bar above Metro?” The terrace is pleasant, a simple case of garden furniture (with a few softer seats) and potted plants. Ignore the bizarre “grass” enclosure, which looks a planned petting zoo aborted before the animals arrived. Apartment buildings loom a little too close for comfort, and certainly too close for background music – an irate neighbor could leap onto the terrace and throttle patrons. The dimly lit and tastefully soundtracked interior offers sheltered solace for Beijing's colder months. While the service comes with a smile, the cocktails, though large enough, don’t quite justify the Q Bar comparison or the prices. On the plus side, there’s a decent whiskey selection. If they can get the drinks up to speed, the elements of a good little bar are in place.
