It may be small and mired amidst other restaurants in the new Prosper Center, but don’t underestimate the food at Mekong Riverside – the dishes we tasted are comparable to Vietnamese places we’ve tried in the Bay Area. The setting is intimate and distinctly French, with tables topped by white tablecloths and candles. Though claiming to have a French twist, the menu retains authentic Vietnamese flavor. Sip on some iced coconut milk with green beans while crunching on the perfectly fried pork, shrimp, and fungus spring rolls dipped in tangy lime dressing. Get a break from the grease by choosing from their many vegetarian options: the scallops and pomelo salad is a refreshing start to your meal and go well with either a meat, curry, vegetable, or seafood entrée; or, of course, you can always just go for a plain ol’ bowl of mouth-watering pho.
