The process of exporting a pet is like following a paper trail as you fumble from one form to another. A good rule of thumb is to keep every piece of paper used to bring the animal into China and every scrap related to something that was done to your pet while here. At least six months before departure, check the requirements for exporting a companion animal to your country, as well as the latest restrictions of the Entry-Exit Quarantine and Inspection Bureau. Most countries require animal companions to be vaccinated between one and twelve months before entering from abroad. All dogs must be vaccinated for rabies. Legally licensed hospitals will update your Animal Health and Immunity Certificate (the red booklet)
upon vaccinating a pet. This is the official proof of vaccination and is necessary to export your pet.
