the:artist:network was launched in 2002, with the aim of establishing a network of cross-cultural and interdisciplinary exchanges. by focusing on continual growth of international communities rather than on individuals; the:artist:network is able to reinforce and channel already existing networks to provide an arena within which both international and american artists can broaden and extend their scope for ideas.

with downtown manhattan, new york, and beijing, as the physical hubs of this cultural exchange, we recognize the intrinsic system of artistic growth and development already prevalent in these cities. the essence of the:artist:network is the network itself, cultivating a tradition of art excellence that challenges physical boundaries and encourages cross-cultural exchanges.
