Shingo Gokan at Beersmith, When Beer Meets Cocktail

When two masters in their craft join forces, the results are nothing short of extraordinary. On September 7th, the founder and CEO of SG Group Shingo Gokan, also one of the most influential bartenders in the world, will collaborate with Beersmith’s brewmaster Jon Therrian for a special event that promises to blend the artistry of cocktails with the creativity of craft beer.
Shingo Gokan is the owner of four distinguished bars across Asia, including The SG Club in Tokyo which ranked 23rd in Asia’s 50 Best Bars in 2024. Shingo’s meticulous attention to detail and his ability to craft experiences through his cocktails have earned him a legendary status.
For the first time, Shingo will step outside his usual cocktail domain to collaborate with a craft beer bar abroad. Teaming up with Jon, Beersmith’s Brew Master, the pair will present a unique experience that merges craft beer and cocktails.
For the event, Shingo has created two special Okinawan inspired cocktails that have never been seen before. Both cocktails use liquors from Shingo’s liquor brand Kokuto de Lequio. The first liquor shares the same name as the brand and is the world’s first awamori brown sugar liqueur. The second is the Yambaru Spiced Rum, a new product released earlier this year made from distilled Kokuto black sugar which is then redistilled with Shikuwasa peel, and other unique Okinawan botanicals like getto (Shell Ginger).
Using these liquors as a base Shingo will make Kokuto on the Hills which combines Kokuto de Lequio with green apple, fennel, clarified milk and orange wine along with a refreshing Yambaru Mojito, which mixes Yambaru Spiced Rum with mint and soda. Jon has also co-brewed two brand new craft beers based on the same two liquors: the Kokuto Dark Strong Ale and Sober Highball Pils.
If you want the chance to try these delicious concoctions then head to Beersmith on September 7th! From 8pm until 11pm, Shingo will be expertly mixing up his two exclusive cocktails and Jon’s two co-brewed beers will be on tap as well. This will be the only time that Shingo’s cocktails are available, so if you want to try them get yourself down to Beersmith!
To enjoy these lovely libations there will be the All-in Set which includes 2 cocktails and 2 beers for RMB 299. Book now and don’t miss the chance to meet the masterpieces.
